John Feldman’s Role
Morita Takahiro (vocal), Yamashita Toru (guitar), Kohama Ryota (bass), and Kanki Tomoya (drums) grew up with emo music influences around year 2000s. During interviw, they admit that Funeral For A Friend, Story Of The Year, The Used, even Good Charlotte have a big role in perfecting their musical taste.
“Yes, we admit it, we listen a lot of songs from American bands. We even covered songs from Good Charlotte in the past,” said Taka.
It’s no wonder that in the first album, Zeitakubyou (2007), we can feel the strong GC influence.
At that time, the band is still a five-person band. The loss of a guitarist in 2009 became a shock therapy for this rock group. Their national tour was cancelled. They also had to remake their new music formula so it could be played by only one guitar.
“We have been through a very complex and unpleasant journey. By accepting all of that, for the first time we feel more alive. We’re not smart, we don’t like school, that’s why we put all of our life in this band. If there is no ONE OK ROCK, we will be dead,” said Taka.
With that principle, Taka cs could carry on to stand up again. They would do everything to keep OOR. Even chasing music producers from US.
Luckily at critical time, OOR met John William Feldmann. Aside as a guitarist for Goldfinger, Feldmann also known as a producer who likes to produce famous bands’ album.
Vulnerable (2012) by The Used, Dirty Work (2011) by All Time Low, to Vices & Virtues by Panic!at The Disco are the examples of Feldmann’s exquisite work.
“I’m a fan of the bands he produced. We are the ones who asked him directly to work on OOR’s latest album. Luckily he likes our works in the previous album,” said Taka.
Feldmann’s role is not only creating a stronger music with world-class sound quality for OOR, he also opened the gate of global music market for Taka cs. He opened their eyes that with music, they can reach world market. Not only Japanese market.
“He is very powerful, collaborating with John, we feel closer and in the same height with the bands we love,” added Taka.
It’s not too much to say. It’s thanks to John’s role that a band as big as Simple Plan asked the vocalist for a duet. Even Fall Out Boy agreed to sit down together with OOR in an interview.
“That (collaboration) was an honor for us. Regardless, we did not know if our music will be accepted by the world or not. At least, we want to show our music to the whole world. No worries, we are going towards there,” added the ex-vocal group member of NEWS.

Nada Promotama, the promoter who previously succeed bringing Deftones in Bandung, is right to have ONE OK ROCK concert in Jakarta. The point is, the quartet of Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya was succeed entertaining thousands of audience on Senayan Swimming Pool Parking Lot on Sunday (24/11)
Not only giving performance with international band’s sound quality, in “Who Are You?? Who Are We??” 2013 Tour, Taka cs keep on giving surprises for Indonesian audience.
Between the concert, this Japanese rock band welcomed the audience in Indonesian. “Indonesia mantap! Nama saya Ryota, ahem… (Indonesia is great! My name is Ryota, ahem…) Indonesia tanah airku, tanah tumpah darahku…” Ryota the bassist shouted and he sang Indonesia’s national anthem, Indonesia Raya. The audience instantly screaming hysterically.
